Meeting convened at 8:36 PM (ET) a quorum being present, the Chair and Secretary being present. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Attending: Ken Aaron, Jim Boyd, Bill Crosier, Kim Kaufman, R. Paul Martin, Tracy Rosenberg, Alex Steinberg, Barbara Whipperman, Also attending were acting Executive Director Summer Reese and KPFK General Manager Bernard Duncan. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Agenda: The KPFK FY13 draft budget ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Motion: (Kim Kaufman) “To approve the agenda.” (Passed without objection) The KPFK Treasurer presented her findings with regard to the draft FY13 KPFK budget. She has produced her own assumptions sheet based on approximations. She told the committee that the one which had been supplied didn’t look right. The committee discussed this. KPFK General Manager Bernard Duncan joined the call while on the road. The KPFK General Manager and the KPFK Treasurer had arrived at different totals for some line items. There appears to be a problem with how several revenue lines are calculated in the draft budget proposal. There appear to have been increases in personnel costs during FY12. The committee discussed the budget proposal and tried to determine accurate amounts for the line items. Concerns were raised regarding KPFK’s ability to buy and install a new transmitter during FY13, especially in light of increased personnel costs. Raising the capital for a new transmitter was discussed. The committee discussed how KPFK would pay its “Shared Services,” which are currently in arrears. The issue of KPFK and KPFA having somewhat different on-air fund raiser dates but sharing some programming was briefly discussed. The committee agreed to schedule a special meeting for September 10, 2012, to continue discussing this budget proposal. Adjourned 10:14 PM (ET) Submitted by R. Paul Martin, Secretary.
